European Proyects
About our EU Project Involvement
At ZIES, we believe in the power of collaboration to address today’s complex social challenges. Participating in European projects aligns with our mission to promote evidence-based decision-making and generate real social impact. With a strong background in applied research, public policy evaluation, and strategic consulting, we aim to contribute our expertise to EU-funded initiatives that seek meaningful change at local, national, and European levels.
Ongoing Projects
RECORDARE – Resilient Cultural Heritage for Risk Preparedness
Programme: Interreg Europe (2021–2027)
ZIES has supported the development of the RECORDARE project by contributing to its proposal drafting and technical design. Although not a formal partner in the consortium, we are currently involved in the implementation phase by providing technical support and methodological input. RECORDARE aims to improve regional policies for the protection and adaptation of cultural heritage in the face of climate change and natural hazards, fostering knowledge exchange among European regions. Our contribution focuses on research, good practice analysis, and the development of tools for policy learning and stakeholder engagement.
Areas of Interest
Social Inclusion and Community Development
We work to promote equality, participation, and social cohesion, especially among vulnerable groups. Our team has experience designing and evaluating programmes related to youth, gender equality, migrant integration, and community empowerment. We apply participatory approaches and qualitative methods to ensure policies and actions reflect real needs.
Education, Training, and Lifelong Learning
We support innovation in education, from early childhood to adult learning. ZIES has conducted research on school integration, vocational training, digital skills, and educational equity. We are well positioned to contribute to Erasmus+ projects aiming to modernize teaching methods, develop inclusive learning environments, or improve access to skills development.
Local and Regional Development
With a strong presence in Andalusia and knowledge of rural and urban contexts, ZIES contributes to strategies that foster sustainable territorial development. We assist public institutions in the design and evaluation of local development plans, participatory diagnostics, and smart rural initiatives—making us a valuable partner for Interreg and cohesion policy projects.
Public Policy Design and Evaluation
Evaluation is one of our core strengths. We help improve public policies by applying rigorous, evidence-based evaluation techniques. Our work spans employment, health, social services, and youth policy. In EU projects, we can lead evaluation work packages, monitor impact indicators, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Applied Social Research & Data Analysis
As a research centre, we combine qualitative and quantitative methodologies to provide a complete picture of social issues. We design and implement surveys, interviews, focus groups, and data analysis to support the needs assessment, implementation, and evaluation phases of EU projects. Our analytical approach ensures decisions are grounded in real evidence.
Environmental and Social Sustainability
We bring a social lens to environmental initiatives. ZIES has studied the socio-economic impacts of conservation and green economy programmes, and contributed to strategies for circular bioeconomy, sustainable tourism, and biodiversity. We are particularly interested in how environmental policies intersect with social resilience, inclusion, and rural development.
Vulnerable Groups and Social Equity
We are deeply committed to improving the lives of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, older adults, low-income populations, ethnic minorities, and others facing structural barriers. Our work addresses issues such as access to services, inclusion in the labour market, independent living, and community participation. In EU projects, we contribute knowledge on reducing inequalities, promoting accessibility, and designing inclusive social policies that leave no one behind.
